Black Mirror is a British television anthology series created by Charlie Brooker that features speculative fiction with dark and sometimes satirical themes which examine modern society, particularly with regard to the unanticipated consequences of new technologies. Regarding the programs content and structure, Brooker noted, “each episode has a different cast, a different setting, even a different reality. But they’re all about the way we live now – and the way we might be living in 10 minutes’ time if we’re clumsy.” The series has received critical acclaim, and has seen an increase in interest internationally (particularly in the United States) after being added to Netflix. Stephen King, in particular, has noted his interest in the series.

Wayward Pines- the series stars Matt Dillon as Ethan Burke, a U.S. Secret Service agent investigating the disappearance of two fellow agents in the mysterious small town of Wayward Pines, Idaho. Ethan awakens from a car accident unable to contact the outside world, and unable to leave. He finds one of the agents dead and the other, his former lover Kate Hewson, settled down in the seemingly idyllic town. But the inhabitants of Wayward Pines are trapped there by a set of rules enforced by the strict Sheriff Arnold Pope, and any attempt to escape is punished by a public execution known as a “reckoning.” Ethan works to discover the truth, and has to make hard choices when he does.

Twin Peaks is an American television serial drama.  It follows an investigation headed by FBI Special Agent Dale Cooper into the murder of homecoming queen Laura Palmer.

Six Feet Under is a drama series that takes a darkly comical look at members of a dysfunctional California family that runs an independent funeral home.

A Young Doctor’s Notebook is a British dark comedy television series. The series was adapted from the book of short stories A Young Doctor’s Notebook byMikhail Bulgakov. The events take place in Russia over the period of 1917-18, the show tells the story of a doctor looking back on his time practicing in a small village hospital and struggling with his progression to morphine addiction. It stars Jon Hamm and Daniel Radcliffe.

Warehouse 13 –the series follows U.S. Secret Service Agents Myka Bering and Pete Lattimer when they are assigned to the secretive Warehouse 13 for supernatural artifacts. It is located in a barren landscape in South Dakota, and they initially regard the assignment as punishment. As they go about their assignments to retrieve missing artifacts and investigate reports of new ones, they come to understand the importance of what they are doing. 

Eureka Deputy – United States Marshal Jack Carter stumbles upon Eureka while transporting a fugitive prisoner (his own rebellious teenage daughter Zoe) back to her mother’s home in Los Angeles. When a faulty experiment cripples the sheriff of Eureka, Carter finds himself quickly chosen to fill the vacancy. Despite not being a genius like most members of the town, Jack Carter demonstrates a remarkable ability to connect to others, keen and practical insights, and a dedication to preserving the safety of Eureka.
